Contemplation

Contemplation generally refers to a type of meditation that involves prolonged and deep reflection on a specific topic or object. It can involve actively contemplating or focusing on an idea, emotion, or object, or simply being present and open to whatever thoughts or feelings arise. The aim of contemplation is to gain deeper insight or understanding, and it is often used as a means of cultivating wisdom, compassion, and other positive qualities. We will focus on the four marks of existence as a framework for exploring the nature of reality and the human experience (impermanence, suffering, no self, freedom from suffering)

Compassion

Bodhicitta is a Sanskrit term meaning "awakened heart" or "heart of enlightenment." In this course, you will learn how to cultivate bodhicitta through loving-kindness and compassion meditation practices. You will explore the relationship between bodhicitta and the path to awakening, as well as how to bring these practices into your daily life.

Concentration

There are further practices to help sharpen that concentration. In this program, you will learn advanced techniques to deepen your concentration and focus through Shamatha meditation. You will discover how to work with the mind and cultivate stability to achieve deeper levels of mindfulness and clarity.

Insight

Through guided meditations and discussions, we will delve into the nature of reality and gain understanding into the nature of the self and the world around us. We will also explore the concepts of emptiness and impermanence, and how they relate to the experience of suffering and freedom from suffering, the experience of self and others.

Vipassana is a Pali term meaning "insight" or "seeing clearly.”
